Mylapore MLA Dha Velu says the monsoon rain this far has “majorly affected’ areas like Seethammal Colony, Abhiramapuarm and R A Puram.
He says flooding is not evident in the heart of Mylapore, in areas around Sri Kapali Temple zone.
Velu says that the flooding in Abiramapuram and R A Puram is because while the water level in Buckingham Canal is above average, the flood waters from local drains into the Canal is not able to flow out.
He says he has jotted these observations after a round of the area under his constitruency.
“If the rain takes a break and water in the Canal flows away, the drains too will flush out water in local area streets, ” says the MLA.
