Rains since early this Sunday morning flooded many a street and road across the Mylapore zone.
A large avenue tree crashed on Kutchery Road east end while floodwaters from P S Sivaswami Salai entered the campus of Vivekananda College located on this road which generally floods despite new drains. Some people here say waters from the local areas flow into this zone and hence the flooding. ( top photo)
From Dr Ranga Road and Abiramapuram’s streets to the inner streets of the heart if Mylapore, like Thiruvalluvarpet where the Thiruvalluvar temple is located, rainwater rose as the rains continued into dawn. ( photo below)
- Sanjay Pinto reports that ‘shoddy work’ done to fill in a trench on C P Ramaswamy Rd ( opp Dina Color Lab) by Metrowater has led to flooding and the spot poses a danger to motorists ( though some barricades have been placed here)
- G K Ganesh Krishan from 3rd Street R A Puram says rain water has got inside homes here.
- Dr Ram Kiran from Ayodhya Flats, South Canal Bank Road, Mandavelipakkam says water entered the campus / few ground floor flats.
