Kartik Fine Arts (KFA) celebrated its 46th anniversary and presented Kartik Lifetime Achievement Awards to Villupattu exponent Subbu Arumugam, Namasankeerthanam exponent Udaiyalur Kalyanaraman, dancer and teacher Priyadarshini Govind and veteran theatre artiste Thambi K.Parthasarathy.
The Kartik Awards of Excellence were presented to violinist M.A.Krishnaswamy, dance guru and choreographer Madurai R.Muralidaran, dance music accompanist G. V. Bharadwaaj and theatre artistes V. P. S.Sriraman, Nanjil B Revathy and theatre technician Padma Stage R Kannan.
The event was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s main hall, Mylapore.
Chief guest K.N.Ramaswamy, director, BVB released the sabha’s souvenir and presented the
awards.
K. M. Narasimhan, president, KFA, presided.
The Kartik Lifetime Achievement award carried a purse of Rs.25000 while the Award of excellence Rs. 15000.
D. S. Rajagopalan, secretary, KFA crisply touched upon highlights of the journey of all ten awardees.
R. Sekar, secretary and asst. secretary Ramanath also supported the event. D. S. Rajagopalan, proposed a vote of thanks.
