Sri Kapali Temple tank holds sheets of water and wild vegetation

On the eve of the monsoon season, the tank of Sri Kapali Temple in Mylapore is holding some sheets of water.

But what stands out is the wild vegetation that has grown rather quickly, aided by the small spells of rain in  recent times.

Some time ago, a group of volunteers did seva by clearing the weeds and grass.

Also,  following steps taken by the HR&CE Department, the IIT-Madras was roped in to study ways to retaining the water in the tank.

It is learnt that IIT has sent its report.

In the past, many such studies and suggestions have been made. But the tank dries up primarily because the water gets sucked up via the hundreds of borewells that tap ground water in this zone.
