Members of Self Help Groups in the seaside colony of Srinivasapuram attended a meeting on the weekend to learn about mental health issues that affect us all.
This was part of a mental health awareness programme that MCDS, a NGO that works in this area and Banyan of Chennai which is internationally known for this work in this field have collaborated on locally.
60 people participated.
Dr Anbudurai led the simple talks that helped to communicate the issues to the gathered women here. These women are being educated on the subject so that they can locate and handle people who have mental health problems, when they go to work in their backyard as SHG workers.
