The Navaratri celebrations at Mari Chetty Street Venkatesa Perumal Temple that begins Wednesday (Oct 6) will see the Ashtalakshmi Alankaram during the first eight days of the utsavam.
Alarmel Mangai Thayar will be decorated in a specific Lakshmi alankaram on each of the first eight days and will go on a procession inside the temple every evening at around 7pm. The procession will be immediately followed by an Oonjal Sevai.
On the ninth evening, Alarmel Mangai Thayar will be draped in a Saraswathi Alankaram for the evening procession.
On Friday October 15, the Vijayadasami day that coincides with Shravanam, there will be a Thirumanjanam in the morning and a procession inside the temple in the evening before Thayar makes her way back to her sannidhi.
