Admissions are now open for various courses offered by the 115-year-old Madras Sanskrit College, Mylapore.
The examinations relating to the previous year are being conducted now and the new academic year is expected to start in July through the online model. Once the Government permits physical presence of students in colleges in the city, the college will go back to the traditional route.
College manager B Ganapathy said that the admissions had dropped by half last year because of the pandemic restrictions. This week, enquiries have been trickling in from students and he expects this to gather momentum over the next fortnight closer to the date of the re-opening of the college.
He said that the Prak-Siromani, the foundation course in Sanskrit and the certification course are the most popular courses currently.
Last year, the college had launched two new courses – Phd in Sanskrit and MA in Sanskrit (General).
The office is open from 10am to 5pm. Contact 24980421 for admissions.
