State government staff began this morning the job of arranging for transfer of the first part of a cash dole announced by the new DMK-led state government for what is called ‘Covid relief’ to ration card-holding families.
The total cash promised is Rs.4000.
Staff were seen doing the rounds of streets and lanes in the heart of Mylapore, cross checking on data and ration cards. This was orderly and localised.
People are being given tokens and date and time when they can drop in at local area ration shops to collect the money.
