It was only on Friday (May 7) that the temple had performed an atonement ceremony ( Laghu Prayaschitham) for not conducting last year’s Brahmotsavam.
While there were restrictions on street processions, the plan was to organise the 10 day Vaikasi Brahmotsavam inside the Vedantha Desikar Srinivasa Perumal temple from this Friday (May 14).
However the new government’s 15-day lockdown from May 10 has put paid to the Brahmotsavam plans.
Thus for the second year running, the Vaikasi Brahmotsavam at Vedantha Desikar Srinivasa Perumal temple will not take place.
It may be recalled that the Panguni Brahmotsavam at the nearby Kesava Perumal temple and Sri Kapaleeswarar temple were held this year as the restrictions on street processions had been off during the first half of Panguni.
