There are six abhishekams performed annually for Sri Nataraja at the Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple. This Tuesday morning, on the occasion of Chitrai Shravanam, will feature one of those six.
However, given the current restrictions, devotees will not be able to watch/ take part the event.
E Venkatasubramanian Shivachariar told Mylapore Times that this week is an auspicious one and full of special events. “On this first day of Agni Nakshatram, the abhishekam for Nataraja will start at 11am and will be performed in Ekantham.”
Wednesday (May 5) marks the annual birthday of the famous Saivite saint poet Thirunavukarasar (Appar). On the occasion of Chitrai Sathayam, one would have witnessed a grand Pushpa Pallakku procession tomorrow evening around the Mada Streets.
However, this procession will take place inside the temple on Wednesday evening.
