A Covid care centre was formally launched this morning at Ethiraj Kalyana Mantap on TTK Road, Alwarpet. It is located opposite the petrol station closer to the Alwarpet traffic junction.
It was a high profile event with DMK youth leader and MLA. Udhayanidhi Stalin and South Chennai MP, Thamizhachi Thangapandian in attendance and over 30 DMK local leaders tagging along and a battery of media-teams.
It was made known that the treatment here is for people with light or medium symptoms of Covid and it will be Ayurvedic treatment. A private Ayurvedic company , is involved in collaboration with the city civic body and the Mylapore MLA.
Till this morning, nothing was mentioned about the ‘Ayurvedic’ form of treatment with the MLA saying for some days that this was to be a Covid Care centre for ordinary cases.
MLA Velu now says besides the treatment at this 25-bed centre, there will be nurses and doctors and oxygen facility and an ambulance on standby to move patients to hospitals if their condition worsens.
