The popular Garuda sevai procession of Mari Chetti Street based Sri Venkatesa Perumal that was originally scheduled for Saturday evening has been preponed by a day to Friday (April 9) evening. Sesha Vahana procession will now take place on Friday morning.
These changes are in light of the lockdown restrictions that the TN government had announced on Thursday V Loganathan, trustee, Venkatesa Perumal Temple told Mylapore Times.
M E Govindarajan, another trustee said that the second half of the ten day Brahmotsavam will be held within the temple complex with no street processions. The lord mounted on the vahana of the day will provide darshan at the vahana mandapam at 630pm and will remain there for an hour till 7.30pm.
In line with the new restrictions coming into force from Saturday, the temple will have to close by 8pm every day till April 30.
