Nungu are selling fast at road junctions as the summer sizzles.
On Royapettah High Road, Mylapore, beside the park cum traffic island around Thiruvalluvar statue, two hawkers were busy all morning this Tuesday, shelling the fruit. And there was a crowd ready to make off with a set of four/eight nungus.
Four pieces of nungu costs Rs. 20.
“We are here till stocks lasts,” said Sudhakar, the hawker. He sets up his make-shift counter on alternative days here.
Similar nungu sales are seen across Mylapore, especially near temples and markets.
