Ground situation at two private hospitals

Here was the Monday situation at two local private hospitals.

Billroth Hospital, R. A. Puram
The number of people coming to Billroth to get their COVID test has increased immensely.  For people who are unable to come to the hospital for testing or any other emergency, Billroth staff say they collect swab for COVID testing by going to the patient’s residence.

They vaccinate only people who come to the hospital.
They charge as per the government norms – that is Rs. 1200 for testing and Rs. 250 for a single
dose of vaccine.

Covaxin is not available here for the past one week and Covishield is given to 150 to 180
people every day as per the availability each day.
“There is no bed provision for COVID affected patients as of now, but we are
planning to set up it soon,” says the hospital manager.

Kauvery Hospital in TTK Road, Alwarpet
An exclusive team works here for bed management exclusively for COVID 19 patients. “We check for the availability of beds when we receive patients and before admitting them, we check their condition thoroughly and according to that we inform the bed manager,” says a duty manager at Kauvery.

We are told there are 72 beds allocated for COVID affected patients. The charges are as per the
government’s tariff. Almost all beds are now in use.
People are asked to check for the availability of beds on the government web portal-
www.stopcorona.tn.gov.in.

They don’t test patients for COVID here unless and until the person shows the symptoms for it.
