Here is the manifesto of the DMK candidate, T. Velu of the Mylapore constituency –
• Slum Clearance: Concrete houses will be provided for all residents of Mylapore. Five-storey buildings will be constructed in the same area to accommodate and allocate homes to people.
• Power supply and tap water connection for all homes in the area
• Pattas to be given to home-owners (without pattas) after due diligence Infrastructure
• Functional street lights on all streets and areas frequented by people
• Construction of a modern bus stand in Mylapore
• Tholkapiya Poonga (park) to be renovated and maintained properly
• Smooth functioning of ration shops in the area to enable all cardholders to procure their supplies easily
• Facilitate welfare support like old age pension, widow pension and girl child marriage assistance to reach beneficiaries in a hassle-free manner
• Status of Mylapore as the cultural capital of the city & state will be further reinforced by supporting classical and folk artistes to perform in the area throughout the year
• Cultural and religious tourism in this area to be developed
• All temple ponds and lakes will be deepened regularly and maintained properly
• Old, dilapidated temples in the area will be renovated and poojas/worship will be restarted
• A modern ‘Meen Angaadi’ (Fish Market) will be constructed for the fishing community of the area
• All public problems/ issues will be heard, work will be undertaken to solve the issue within a reasonable frame of time
• The MLA office will be functional throughout the day to receive public grievances
