Nikita Viswanath, a resident of Venus Colony, Alwarpet has been an art teacher for the past five years.
Prior to lockdown, she would regularly conduct art workshops and classes for young children and adults at schools and at her home.
She also used to work as a freelance UI (User Interface)/ UX (User Experience) designer at a few companies.
But post lockdown, as physical classes were not feasible, she had to take them online. And that turned out to be a ‘blessing’ for her.
Says Nikita, a graduate of visual arts from Stella Maris College, Gopalapuram,” Before lockdown, I had only 10 students. But, as soon as I started online classes, I got 25 plus students.”
Besides, moving online also helped Nikita in getting scores of students from countries like Canada, Singapore and Dubai. “As most people were homebound they wanted to engage themselves in art.”
She says that word of mouth communication and Facebook/Instagram promotion played a crucial role in spreading the buzz about her ‘online classes’
Nikita currently teaches artwork using various media like watercolour, gouache and oil pastels.
She has also been bringing out her own desktop calenders, since the past three years. This year too, Nikita has curated special desktop calendars for 2021.
The calendars feature digital paintings, that she has made based on the theme of ‘Northern Lights.’
She is now offering them for sale. The calendars are customisable and can be used for corporate branding as well.
Her work can be viewed at the Instagram page ‘nikitasartjournal’
Nikita’s 2021 calendar is priced at Rs 449. She takes bulk orders too. For details call her at 6369568097.
