On Saturday, an announcement was made by the Tamilnadu government that schools will reopen on Nov. 16 for students of classes IX to XII.
At Raja Muthiah School, R. A. Puram, the principal Thirugnanam says, “Ever since the lockdown was announced, we have been cleaning the classrooms and the campus on a regular basis. We have given a letter to the Corporation authorities requesting them to sanitize the premises. We have also cleaned up the water tank and are making arrangements to ensure that there is uninterrupted water supply to the wash areas and restrooms. All the classrooms will have sanitizers. We are still waiting for instructions from the government on the schedule the students need to follow”.
At Lady Sivaswami Girls School, Mylapore, the principal Rubi Puthotta says, “We have started arranging the desks and chairs and cleaning our campus. We have not received any instructions from the government on how many hours the students will attend classes. We also don’t know whether they have to attend classes on a shift system or on alternate days. We hope to receive more details in a few days”.
