A terrace garden with 50 vegetable saplings in green grow bags and keerai seeds was set up at Chennai High School at Eldams Road on Oct. 15 to mark the birth anniversary of past president Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.
The project, which cost Rs. 14000, was sponsored by the members of Inner Wheel Club of Madras.
The president of the club Shobha Gupta says, “Alwarpet based gardening store Aapti Gardening Solutions helped us with this project. We have also provided two 100 litre water drums. The water that is supplied to the school will be stored in these drums, purified and then used to water the plants”.
Shobha says the garden will be maintained by the teachers, students and staff of the school, the store will also monitor the plants.
