The well known Gomathi Mess that sells homemade breakfast and lunch at Mandaveli Lane, is also selling a range of podis like idly molagai podi, sambhar podi, and rasam podi now.
Karuvepillai podi, parupu podi and veppilai katti are also available for sale here.
Mylapore based couple Ramakrishnan, and Latha Krishnan, have been running this popular Mess in the neighbourhood for over 15 years now.
Following the lockdown in March, their business had dwindled. However, Ramakrishnan says sales is picking up now, slowly. “Although it’s nowhere close to pre-covid times,” he says.
Now, Ramakrishnan says there is a big demand for podis.
Says Ramakrishnan, “We have been offering idly molagai podi since many years. But, now as most people are cooking at home, there is a big demand for podis. Hence, we have started offering them too.”
The podis are made fresh at the Mess, daily.
Their regular breakfast (idly, vada, pongal, kichadi) and lunch (sambhar, rasam, kootu, rice) are also available for sale here.
