ShoppeSeva, a unit of Sevalaya NGO that sells a range of handicrafts and home-decoration items is now offering a facility to re-paint old golu dolls for Navaratri.
The NGO has tied up with traditional golu doll re-painters near its shelter at Thiruninravur village for this purpose.
Says Nagaraj Pavidi, who manages this shop, “In addition to re-painting dolls, the artisans will also mend small damages in the dolls.”
He says that it will take a minimum of 1 week to 10 days to re-paint a doll. “So people who wish to restore their dolls are requested to bring them early.”
Price for re-painting will depend on the kind of dolls and painting required.
Their shop is also selling papier mache and clay dolls for Navaratri. Channapatna, Kondapalli, and handmade woollen dolls are some of the golu bommai varieties available here. Price of the dolls start from Rs 200.
