Today was the first day of the Desikar Utsavam at Sri Vedanta Desikar Temple, Mylapore. The festival which is usually celebrated grandly with a veedi purappadu in the morning and a vahanam purappadu in the evening will not be done so this year.
There will be a special thirumanjam for Sri Desikar on all the ten days. Kannadi arai sevai will be permitted on all days. Small vahanams will be used to carry the deity for an ul purappadu inside the temple everyday.
The festival is on till Sept. 27.
