The government has started distributing bags and textbooks to the students of government and government-aided schools.
At the Chennai High School at Sringeri Mutt Road, R. A. Puram, M. Raja Rajeswari, the headmistress in charge, says, “Yesterday about 60 students from classes VI to VIII collected their backpacks and textbooks from the school. 20 students who stay in places like Semmencherry and Kannagi Nagar were unable to make it due to the unavailability of bus or train services”.
All the norms, with respect to social distancing and use of mask and sanitizers, were followed at the school.
Notebooks and chappals will be distributed soon, says Raja Rajeswari. “We are waiting for the government to announce the dates of distribution”.
