On Monday, Aug 17, local government and government aided schools opened up their campuses to enroll new students.
At the Chennai High School at Sringeri Mutt Road, R. A. Puram, the acting headmistress M. Raja Rajeswari says, “Students and their parents have been walking in since Monday. About 10 students have got admitted into classes VI to X so far”.
She says the teachers, like every year, have now been given the task of conducting surveys. They go around the neighbourhood and ask the parents for details on number of children, age, the school they attend and if any of them have dropped out of schools. “There are many private and government aided schools in this area and there are not many takers for Corporation Schools but we still go around and make sure no child is left behind”.
Admissions are usually open till September every year, she says. The school is located at 10, Sringeri Mutt Road, R. A. Puram. Ph: 24611522.
