The Lions Diagnostic Center at Luz signal has been providing diagnostic facilities at a nominal rate for quite some time now. They also have a dialysis center with 13 machines and one on standby.
Dr. Mohammed Aaseem, a general practitioner who has been working there for a year and a half, says, “We have two kinds of dialysis patients, those who are HCV positive or those who have hepatitis C and those who don’t. It is important to have separate machines for these patients. We treat both these kinds of patients. We have a separate setup for patients with hepatitis C”.
To adapt to the current pandemic situation, the center has opened up a separate isolation ward. If the patients have a fever and cough they are first taken for dialysis in the isolation ward after which they are tested for coronavirus. If they are positive, they are referred to other hospitals. They are allowed to come back to the centre after two negative results. Once they are back, they are again treated in the isolation ward for a week. Only after the third negative result will they be allowed in the normal ward. Dialysis costs Rs. 600 per session.
Blood tests, threadmill test, ECG, ECHO, x-rays and ultrasounds are also take here. They also have packages at nominal costs.
Dr. Mohammed Aaseem says that those who would like to take tests are first screened for fever before they enter the center. The center is open from 7.30 a.m to 4 p.m. and is located at 6, TNHB Complex, 180, Luz Church Road, Mylapore. Ph: 24986111.
