To mark Aadi Pooram tomorrow (July 24), a special abhishekam will be held for the utsava murthy of goddess Karpagambal in the morning from 7.30 to 8.30 a.m. at Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore. Bangles will be used to decorate the goddess.
In the evening at 5.30 p.m., the deity will adorn a special alankaram. A maha deepa aradhanai will follow.
Both the rituals will be streamed live on the temple’s YouTube channel, says D. Kaveri, the executive officer of the temple. It is open to all.
Aadi Pooram is usually celebrated grandly at the temple with an abhishekam performed for the deity (utsavar) at the temple tank and an abhishekam for the main deity (moolavar) at noon.
Devotees are also allowed to bring bangles for the deity.
