Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) at C. P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet continues to function inside the premises of Lions Diabetes Centre, next to Amma Unavagam on this road.
In late March the centre had limited its operations. But now it continues to function through the day.
The centre caters to the medical needs of middle class and lower-middle-class families in the slum areas of the neighbourhood. It also treats pregnant women and those affected by diabetes.
Says a nurse attached to this centre, “People with medical issues like fever, cold can visit the centre. In addition, we are also holding regular fever camps in the areas that fall under our ward.”
She says that all precautions are taken at the centre to prevent virus spread.
People are asked to wash their hands and legs before entering the centre. Also, masks are compulsory for all patients.
Other UPHCs in the neighbourhood are also functioning.

All the centres will be open from 8 am to 5 pm. A duty doctor will be available from 8 am to 4 pm.
