The residents of Hiranya Flats at Greenways Road Extn. at R. A. Puram have been taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of coronavirus in their campus.
The president of the association there, R. Raghunandan, says, “We have eight blocks with a total of 104 apartments. About ten days ago, a young man here tested positive for the virus and has been under home quarantine since then. Corporation officials have been sanitizing our campus regularly since then and we have been cleaning the lobbies, staircases and other common areas every day”.
The residents, who walk around the campus, have been instructed to wear masks and not walk in groups. Visitors are not allowed. Those who deliver food and other essentials are stopped at the gate and are asked to wash their hands there. The packages which are left at the gate are delivered to the homes of the residents by the watchman and other staff who stay inside the campus. Residents who go outside to shop for groceries have to wear masks and follow the same sanitation protocols when they come back.
Residents who walk out to get their groceries don’t have to walk far, says Raghunandan. “We have a supermarket, medical stores and restaurants well within the 2 kms radius. The restaurants also deliver the food and residents make use of that service too”.
