Mylapore police will now use CCTV cameras to monitor virus-positive persons under home-quarantine.
This is to ensure that people don’t violate the home isolation rule and venture out of their houses.
Said a police officer attached to Marina police station, Kamarajar Salai, “We will be using the existing streetside cameras to monitor people under home-quarantine. We are also identifying containment areas that do not have CCTV cameras, and fixing one there.”
He says that the visuals from the camera will be monitored by the police control room and strict action will be taken if quarantine rules are violated.
Since the past few days, the city police have also been filing FIRs against the violators.
