Dr. Monica Chitnavis, an ayurvedic doctor at Prakriti Ayurvedic Center, R. A. Puram has been practising at the center for more than two decades. And since the lockdown was announced, she has been taking calls from her patients on a daily basis and providing free consultation over the phone.
80% of the calls received she says was about immunity. Many wanted to know what they could take to prevent the onset of coronavirus. Several others also called because they were anxious.
About two weeks ago, she started seeing patients at the center strictly on an appointment basis. “We have started treatments too. They are usually taken by people who have knee and back pain, frozen shoulder, sinus and skin issues and several other ailments. We have spaced out the appointments to ensure social distancing”.
Other precautions taken at the center include temperature checks and a hand sanitizer stand operated with a foot pedal. Masks are mandatory, the center also sells masks in case people forget to wear one. The therapists wear masks, a face shield and disposable aprons. Only those who have an appointment for a consultation or a treatment will be allowed inside. Those who come to the center only to buy medicines from their pharmacy have to wait outside, an employee will hand over the order to them there.
Prakriti Ayurvedic Center is located at 2, Kandaswamy Street, R. A. Puram. They are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mon-Sat. Ph: 42100017.
