Summer is still with us and the tank of Sri Kapali Temple in Mylapore is almost bone dry.
Save for small swathes of water around the central mantap and a few old sculptures that lie in the tank, the rest of this huge tank is a scene of parched land – soil that has baked in the hot sun every day and split into small earthen plates.
A few birds make do of the water pools in the morning or late evening.
