Ward 173 has turned into a really hot zone in a few days and Corporation officials have a biog challenge on their hands.
Word went out on some TV channels and social media that there were over 75 cases in the ward. Then, rumours floated that the 70 cases were in and around the congested KVB Gardens, bounded by Kamaraj Salai on one side and R K Mutt Road on the other side.
Some 2000 plus families lives in the lanes here.
This morning, GCC junior officials confirmed that there were 70 odd cases in the ward, not in KVB gardens alone. RDC and IAS officer Alby John from Adyar office was there holding street corner discussions with officials.
This ward covers the space south of Mandaveli MTC terminus up to old Satya Studio, from Srinivasapuram to areas west of Kamaraj Salai, R A Puram.
Barricades have come up, sanitisation is in overdrive.
But since ministers and judges live on Greenways Road and access to them is vital, the containment in teh KVB Gardens zone has been half hearted since the first case popped up over a week ago.
Even now, people walk around to shop and do odd jobs; restraining them is a tall task.
