Thamizh New year celebrations were low key at R. A. Puram Resident Lakshmi Vibu’s house.
She says, “We wore new clothes and drew kolams outside the house. The pooja happened as always, vada, semiya payasam and vepampoo and manga pachadi were offered as naivedyam to the deity”.
A tradition that she missed as a result of the lockdown was visiting the temple and her friends and relatives. She says, “As a result of the lockdown I couldn’t visit my friend who celebrates Vishu. I usually go over there to view the Vishu kannu and offer my namaskarams. This year, I viewed the kanni online and the money that they usually give after I view the vishu kanni was also transferred by them online”.
She adds, “I usually invite my neighbours and friends over for tamboolam but this year I just handed it over to my neighbour next door”.
