Mylapore Head Post office on Kutchery Road has resumed most of its services now. However, the post office has restricted its working hours.
It now works only from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on all days except Sundays.
Following the lockdown, the post office provided only limited services like speed and registered posts due to shortage of staff.
Now, as all their staff are back to work, the post office has resumed most of its operations.
Says the Post Master, Mylapore Head Post Office, “All our staff are regularly coming to work. Hence, we have resumed most of our operations.”
Services including postal account opening/closure, cash withdrawal/ deposit from savings account, speed post, registered posts, and Aadhar enabled payment services are available now.
Says a staff, “Some special services like transferring an account from one post office to another will not be available as staff working in that section are unable to come.”
The staff says that they are taking all precautions to prevent the virus spread. She says, “All of us are wearing masks and using hand sanitizers. At the entrance, we have also kept hand sanitizers for customers to use.”
To avoid crowding, the officials at the post office are using a token system.
A PO staff told Mylapore Times, “Customers will be given a token when they arrive. At a time, only 5 will be allowed inside the office. The remaining are asked to sit and wait outside following social distancing norms. We have also arranged chairs for them to wait, ” she says.
The post office will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on all days except Sundays. Ph: 24642805. On Kutchery Road.
