Baba Women’s Private Employment, a placement and recruitment service at Saradapuram, Mylapore, have been placing women as cooks, nurses, attendants and for child care for more than three decades now. The lockdown however has forced them to suspend their services for some time.
A. Prabhakaran who co-owns the agency along with his wife Bhooma says, “We have stopped placement services for some time. Only two clients who urgently needed help to take care of sick residents were sent nurses. Those nurses will stay with them for the entire period of the lockdown. At other homes where cooks and attendants have been employed, the employers have either asked them to stay over or have asked them to come after the lockdown period”.
