Several areas in the Mylapore area had power outages during the downpour on Thursday evening. That was resolved as soon as the rain stopped, says an official at TANGEDCO.
An EB official in the Luz area says, “Strong winds also accompanied the rain that day. When that happens, because of broken branches falling on transformer structures, insulators break and the feeder trips. For safety reasons, we always wait for the rain to pass before switching on the power when the feeder trips and that is what we did that day. The supply was resumed as soon as the rain stopped”.
