A team from the Central Government dropped into Punjab National Bank at C. P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet for an unexpected visit today morning.
A. Srinivas, the branch manager of the bank says, “The team was on their way to another place when they just decided to drop in. About 10 of them came inside the bank though there might have been many more waiting outside. They just wanted to know about the precautions we were taking inside the bank. They were here for about 10 minutes only”.
He continues, “We have been strictly following the lockdown rules laid down by the government. Only 33% of our staff work everyday and we are only carrying out deposits, withdrawals and cheque clearing activities. The bank is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday and on every alternate Saturday. We are cleaning the premises everyday and we have placed hand sanitizers everywhere. At the entry point, we have also put up notices asking everyone to wear masks before entering the bank. A hand sanitizer station has been placed at the entry point too. Social distancing norms are also strictly followed”.
He continues, “Not many customers have been dropping in since the lockdown. Many of them have been using our app to carry out fund transfers and have been using their debit cards to purchase provisions and other necessities online”.
