Chennai Weekend Artists is a small group of artists, trained and amateurs who meet up every Sunday at a spot in the city to sit and sketch, paint or illustrate.
Last Sunday, Feb.16 the CWA group met at Nochikuppam, a fishers colony off the Marina near the Light House.
As the artists sketched scenes in front of them – fish hawkers and their tents, fish shoppers and the world around, children of the colony curious and eager watched closely.
The artists invited some to them to join the sketching, giving them paper and brushes and pens. A case of a hobby group integrating the local community in its passion.
