Vaikunta Ekadasi falls on Jan. 6 this year. Here are some of the events planned at a few temples in the neighbourhood…
-At Sri Adi Kesava Perumal Temple, Mylapore, viswaroopa darshanam will be held at 2 a.m. Parampada vasal sevai will follow at 4.30 a.m. At 5 a.m., ‘Pathi ulathal’ sevai will be held at the temple mandapam. Veedi purappadu will take place after the Garuda sevai. The main deities (moolavar) will be decorated with precious stones (vajrangi sevai). To mark Ra Pathu (Jan.6 to 15), a veedi purappadu will be held in the evening everyday. For details contact 24643873.
-At Sri Vedanta Desikar Temple, Mylapore, viswaroopa darshanam will take place at 2 a.m. followed by paramapada vasal sevai at 4.30 a.m. Garuda sevai will be held at 6 a.m. followed by veedi purappadu. The main deities will decorated with pearls (muthangi sevai). On all the ten days of the Ra Pathu utsavam, Perumal and Nammalvar will be taken on an ul purappadu in the evening. -At Sri Madhava Perumal Temple, Mylapore, paramapada vasal sevai will take place at 5.30 a.m. Pearls (muthangi sevai) will be used to decorate the main deities. A veedi purappadu will be held in the morning. In the evening, an ul purappadu will be held. To mark the Ra Pathu utsavam, the utsava murthies of Perumal and Thayar will adorn a special alangaram in the evening everyday. Contact 24985112.
