Anupama Ramachandran recently swept a clutch of trophies in snooker and billiards tournaments. This Mylapore Club player won the sub junior snooker and billiards, the junior snooker and billiards, and the titles for women snooker and for billiards in the Tamil Nadu state ranking tournament conducted by TNBSA under the auspices of BSFI.
Her colleague at the club, Manasavini S. also performed creditably, winning the runners-up medal in sub junior billiards, junior billiards and in women’s billiards and a bronze in sub junior and junior snooker in the tourney. In addition, she also received a medal for scoring the highest break (scoring highest points in a single visit) of 46 in billiards in the tourney.
Anupama is a first year student of M. O. P. Vaishnav College and has been training under Shri MA Saleem, a top level national player.
Anupama has been practicing the sport at the Mylapore Club from her early years and the Club has been a second home to her. It was at the club that she was introduced to the game.
The Mylapore Club ays it has been offering ‘unconditional support’ to the members in their preparation for big tournaments. Suresh Sampath, club secretary says that the club had provided special access to the two women to the billiards and snooker table at the club to practice long even during the hours it is formally closed to members.
