The staff at the Mylapore Head Post office say they have plans to tap rainwater at their campus off Kutchery Road. They plan to have three rainwater harvesting (RWH) structures on the premises.
Chezian, the postmaster of the Mylapore Post Office says, “At a campaign that we conducted recently to promote water conservation, Metro Water officials, who were guests for the event suggested we have RWH structures to tap rainwater in our campus.”
Their suggestions, he says were to plant more saplings, insert PVC pipes at the flood-prone areas to recharge the ground, and build a rooftop RWH structure.
“We have already sent the proposal for this to our higher authorities. We will implement it once we get approval,” the postmaster said.
