A senior Chennai Corporation engineer claims that some 85% of desilting of all storm water drains in the Mylapore area has been done. He also says men have been engaged to fill potholes in dug-up streets so that water does not stagnate and motorists have a smooth ride this monsoon.
T. Iniyan, Chennai Corporation’s assistant executive engineer, Mylapore told Mylapore Times, “We have been receiving complaints about water stagnating in potholes on the roads. This morning (Oct. 22) too, we received a complaint from the residents of Kennedy Street and our men are filling the potholes with wet mix and brick patches. Other areas we are working on include R. K. Mutt Road, C. P. Ramaswamy Road and Trustpuram”.
As regards cleaning and desilting of storm water drains, he says, 85% of the work has been done.
