Kanaka Miss was a teacher who had helped shape the future of hundreds of students. She had joined Vidya Mandir a few years after the school started with just a handful of boys at the Mylapore Ladies Club premises in 1956 and had stayed on for more than four decades.
When she passed away in Oct. 2017, the Vidya Mandir alumni association handed over a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh as covered by the Group Insurance Medical Policy. Last month, to honour her service an alumni of the 1974 batch of Vidya Mandir and her nephew, Jayendra, handed over a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh to the Vidya Mandir Alumni Association towards the Group Medical Corpus.
