Heritage enthusiast, historian and writer Venkatesh Ramakrishnan was honoured with the Vedavalli Memorial Heritage Award this Sunday morning at the TAG Centre on TTK Road.
The award includes a citation plaque and a cash prize of Rs 1.1 lakh and recognises efforts taken to highlight/promote heritage.
The award was presented by Madhusudhanan Kalaichelvan, last year’s award-winner.
Later, Ramakrishnan, a resident of Mylapore spoke on ‘Chennai of the 1940s’.
The Vedavalli Memorial Award has been instituted by R. T. Chari in memory of his mother. It is supported by Chari and his brother R. V. Gopalan who run the TAG Group of companies and by Ramu Endowments, the family’s Trust.
