Canvas by sketch, an instagrammable art cafe which specializes in providing different blends of coffee has recently opened at T.T.K Road in Alwarpet.
Filled with natural light, the walls of the tropical-themed restaurant are handpainted with murals of bright green palm leaves and pink flamingos. Huge metal leaf installations and sketches of tropical leaves are erected around the restaurant.
“We wanted people to escape into a different world when they walk into this café. So we came up with a tropical theme,” says Diya Subramanian, a PR Executive, Olive and Twist Hospitality, a corporate services firm that has started this venture.
The food at this 60-seater restaurant is served in handmade Nugu plates that are sourced from the artisans of a tribal village in Karnataka.
Apart from providing different blends of coffee, the cafe also provides coffee made by various manual brewing techniques, including – French press, Chemex, syphon, V60, and Aeropress.
In order to improve the customer experience they also have an open coffee bar where people can customize and see how their drink is being made.
The menu offers Continental and Chinese cuisines. The restaurant also offers all-day breakfast options.
Soon Canvas also intends to provide a co-working space called One Vibe for entrepreneurs to collaborate and work together. “Instead of a cubicle we thought we could provide a spacious and vibrant environment so people could focus on their work better. It is set to open in a few weeks,” she says. The owners also intend to host art events like music, dance shows and art exhibitions here.
