Here is how a few temples in the neighbourhood will be celebrating Vinayaka Chaturthi which falls on Sep 2 this year..
-At Sri Navasakthi Vinayagar Temple, Luz, a celebration has been planned from Sep 1 to 7. An abhishekam and deepa aradhanai will be held everyday. An unjal utsavam will be held on Sep 6. On Sep 7, the deity will be taken on a veedi purappadu in the evening.
Music concerts and debates will be held all on the days. Noted artistes vocalist Nithyashree Mahadevan, Kadri Gopalnath (saxophone) and Rajhesh Vaidhya (veena) will perform. Raja and K. Gnanasambandhan will participate in special debates to be held on Sep 1 and 3. For details contact 24991881.
– At Sri Bala Vinayagar Temple at Warren Road, Mylapore, yagasalai pooja and veda thirumurai parayanam will be held in the morning and evening from Aug 24 to Sep 2. On Sep 2, a laksharchanai and special abhishekam will be held for the deity. On Sep 3, the deity will be taken on a procession around the streets in the neighbourhood.
