From Sep 11 (Vinoba Bhave’s birthday) to Oct 2 (Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday), the volunteers of Gandhi Peace Foundation, Alwarpet will join conservancy workers in the Alwarpet area and share their work. To mark this occasion, they will also spin on the takli and charkha. Bhajans will be sung from 7 a.m. everyday.
Interested schools can send their teachers and students to participate in this event. Local residents may also join in. Those who join conservancy workers in their neighbourhood can send in a write up narrating their experiences. The best contributors will be rewarded at the Gandhi 150 valedictory function to be held on Oct 5. The foundation is located at Ambujammal Street, Alwarpet.
