Officials of the Central Water Commission visited the tank of Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple in Mylapore on Thursday to understand the ways in which rain water it tapped and led into the tank.
Rajeev Singhal, technical director of Jai Shakti Abhiyan and director of the Commission based in Delhi was in Mylapore.
The temple’s executive officer, Kaveri and her team along with Chennai Corporation officials briefed Singhal.
There is only a sheet of water now in the tank.
Civic officials said they have been inspecting rainwater harvesting systems in houses and apartments and that a substantial number need maintenance to be effective.
