The residents of Judge Jambulingam Road, Mylapore can now breathe easy. 8 CCTV cameras were installed at their street premises recently.
Suresh Ranka, the secretary of the Judge Jambulingam Residents’ Association says, “They are IP cameras which can be connected to the internet and can be viewed by the officials at the police station. The installation was carried out as per the instructions of H. Krishnamurthy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Inspector M. S. Bhaskar and sub inspector R. Rajan, of E2 Royapettah police station”.
The residents of the community, which has more than 140 flats, have been paying a monthly fee of Rs. 500 for the past six years. This was used to install the cameras, says Suresh.
Cameras have been placed along the entire stretch of the the road from R. K. Salai to Lloyds Road including the junction of Chandrabagh Avenue.
