Devotees of Sathya Saibaba who belong to Sai Seva Samithis have been taking turns to help quench the thirst of people moving about the neighbourhood as the summer temperature crossed 40 degrees.
The Mylapore group made and served buttermilk to hundreds of people from a point on Dr. Ranga Road. These volunteers sourced the curd and everything else besides vessels and accessories required for the buttermilk distribution.
While youths and adults prepared the buttermilk, seniors helped to refill glasses at the stall that was set up on the pavement.
Similarly, the Samithi of R. A. Puram has also been doing its bit.
Malini Kalyanam, a volunteer says this community service has been carried out in turns through May.
