A ‘Reading in the Park’ programme is being launched on Saturday evening at Nageswara Rao Park in Luz. It is meant for school children and encourages them to pick up a book and read in in the park.
Curated by Mylapore Times newspaper and supported by Sundaram Finance ( which manages and tends to the park), this 15 days programme is open from 4 pm to 6 pm every evening at the Chess Square (rear of park).
Over 75 books in Thamizh and in English will be available to children in the 5 years to 14 years category. They can pick up a book, sit around the square, read and drop off the book ( books are not lent).
Tulika Books, Alwarpet and Odyssey store, Adyar have generously supplied the books, some of the best titles to have been published over the last 12 months. Books in Thamizh have been sourced from Bharathi Books in Teynampet.
This is a volunteer-driven programme; so if you wish to run the book space for 3/5 evenings, mail to – mytimesedit@gmail.com. If you wish to donate books meant for children, you may mail too.
